WaitlistGifted & Talented After School ClassesYouth EnrichmentThis class is offered to students who were invited by email from the Gifted & Talented Coordinator. The purpose of after school classes is to offer extension and enrichment experiences that cannot be provided during the school day. While these activities support academic learning, that is not their primary focus. Students are expected to follow school and classroom rules, as well as meet the instructor expectations regarding behavior. Student behavior that interferes with these expectations will not be tolerated. Please send a snack and water bottle with your child. If school is canceled, after school classes are also canceled and will be rescheduled when possible. Parents should pick up students in the classroom when class is over Registration will open on 11/01/2025 G/T after School Class Descriptions Puzzles and Brain Games Gr. 2-5 This class is designed to teach perseverance and many higher level skills used in all areas of study. Through the use of computers and more traditional games and puzzles, the student learns strategies to solve puzzles and develop advanced problem solving skills, while having fun in the process! Both girls and boys will enjoy this class. LEGO WeDo Mini-Bots Gr. K-3 Students work at their own pace, alone or in teams, to learn simple engineering and science concepts through the use of LEGO robotic kits and computer software. Flexible curriculum allows students to take this class multiple times and still have new experiences. Both girls and boys will enjoy this class. LEGO Robotics Engineering Gr. 4-5 Students work at their own pace, alone or in teams, to learn additional engineering and science concepts through the use of more advanced LEGO robotic kits and computer software. Flexible curriculum allows students to take this class multiple times and still have new experiences, while advancing their skills. Both girls and boys will enjoy this class. LEGO Robotics Independent Inventors Gr. 6-8 Students work at their own pace, alone or in teams, to learn robotics engineering and science concepts through the use of a variety of LEGO robotic kits and computer software. Flexible curriculum allows students to take this class multiple times and still have new experiences, while advancing their skills. This course is designed especially for students who have had at least 2 previous class experiences and want to get creative and build unique robotic devices with multiple kits. Cookie Bake, Adult & ChildCookingJoin us for a festive cookie bake hosted by our Child Nutrition staff! Each participant will bake—and take home—4 dozen cookies (this includes adults attending with children). We’ll make sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies. Please bring your own rolling pin and favorite cookie cutters; we’ll provide all other ingredients and supplies. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. Christmas Crafts, Gr K-3Arts & CraftsUsing felt, paint and buttons and other fun items, we will create a Christmas-themed masterpiece. Paint the background of the canvas, cut out the felt tree and glue on some buttons as ornaments and snowflakes. We will also do a additional "surprise" craft. Snack is included. Prehab/Functional Strength Training For Athletes, Gr 7-12SportsThis functional strength training/prehab course is a proactive strategy aimed at enhancing strength, mobility and stability, thereby facilitating the achievement of both general and sport-specific objectives while minimizing injury risk and improving performance. Developed by skilled physical therapists from the Integracare Physical Therapy department, the course imparts specialized knowledge and techniques tailored to various sports or general fitness goals. Athletes engaged in sports such as softball, track and field, tennis, swimming, dance etc as well as those involved in weight training, will find this program beneficial. Participants will receive guidance on proper form, with an emphasis on core stability, scapular stability and muscular endurance to prevent injuries.
