This class is offered to students who were invited by email from the Gifted & Talented Coordinator. The purpose of after school classes is to offer extension and enrichment experiences that cannot be provided during the school day. While these activities support academic learning, that is not their primary focus. Students are expected to follow school and classroom rules, as well as meet the instructor expectations regarding behavior. Student behavior that interferes with these expectations will not be tolerated. Please send a snack and water bottle with your child. If school is canceled, after school classes are also canceled and will be rescheduled when possible. K-3 Students work at their own pace, alone or in teams, to learn simple engineering and science concepts through the use of LEGO robotic kits and computer software. Flexible curriculum allows students to take this class multiple times and still have new experiences. Both girls and boys will enjoy this class. LEGO Robotics Engineering Gr. 4-5 Students work at their own pace, alone or in teams, to learn additional engineering and science concepts through the use of more advanced LEGO robotic kits and computer software. Flexible curriculum allows students to take this class multiple times and still have new experiences, while advancing their skills. Both girls and boys will enjoy this class. LEGO Robotics Independent Inventors Gr. 6-8 Students work at their own pace, alone or in teams, to learn robotics engineering and science concepts through the use of a variety of LEGO robotic kits and computer software. Flexible curriculum allows students to take this class multiple times and still have new experiences, while advancing their skills. This course is designed especially for students who have had at least 2 previous class experiences and want to get creative and build unique robotic devices with multiple kits. Both girls and boys will enjoy this class.

Basketball Camps/Tykes DASH Sports basketball camps provide players with a well-rounded basketball experience covering a broad range ofskills training & skill-based games. Players will be taught how to properly shoot, pass, dribble, & play defense in a fun & positiveenvironment. Camps end with scrimmages/games on the final day. Parent participation is required for the 2-3 year old classes and recommended when needed for the 4-6 year old classes. Athletes should bring a water bottle. Balls are provided.

Join us for a fun and interactive Spanish class led by the Foley High School Spanish teacher and the high school students traveling to Peru! This six-week after-school program introduces elementary students to Spanish through games, songs, hands-on activities, and snacks. Each week, students will learn new Spanish words and phrases while exploring themes like greetings, colors, food, animals, and daily activities. The class focuses on listening and speaking in a positive, encouraging environment—no prior Spanish experience needed! Class groups will be divided based on enrollment. Join us for a fun and creative after-school craft club led by a high school teacher and students from our high school Spanish classes who are traveling to Peru next year! This six-week program will meet once a week from 3:00–4:30 PM. Each week, participants will create a different hands-on craft designed for elementary-aged students, using a variety of materials and techniques. Students will sign up for all six weeks, allowing them to build confidence, creativity, and connections with peers in a supportive and engaging environment. Snacks will be provided at each session. This course fulfills the requirements needed to obtain a driving permit. Students must be at least 15 years old to take the permit test. We recommend enrolling in this class as close as possible to the time you plan to take the permit test to maximize the retention of information. Attendance for the full 30 hours of classroom instruction is mandatory. Adults seeking a driving permit are also welcome to participate in this class. The "Behind the Wheel" component, comprising 6 hours of hands-on driving instruction, is separate from the 30 hours of classroom learning. Participants can register for their "Behind the Wheel" training once they have completed the classroom instruction. Learn to Knit: Twisted Headband, Gr 4-8 Join this beginner-friendly, 2-session class to discover the joy of knitting while creating a stylish twisted headband. First you’ll learn how to cast on and the basic knit stitch. Next you’ll cast off and sew your pieces together to complete the twist. A complete knitting kit is provided, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm. Class size is limited to 10 students. Class Fee: $60. Dates & Time: Tuesdays, March 17 & 24, 3:00–5:00pmFoley Intermediate School Cafeteria Learn to Knit: Ribbed Hat, Gr 4-8 Ribbing is achieved by combining the two basic stitches in knitting: the knit and purl stitches. This hat combines the two together. In this 3-session class you will learn the basic knit and purl stitches while making a basic hat. In session one, you will learn how to do the basic knit and purl stitches and how to cast-on for the pattern. In session two, you will learn how to put the two stitches together to make the ribbed stitch. And in session three, we will learn how to decrease the crown of the hat and cast-off. Ideally you will have been in the twisted headband class first, as this class will build on those original skills, however it is not necessary. A kit will be provided and will have all you need to make this design. Class size is limited to 6 students. Floor Hockey DASH Sports Summer Floor Hockey camps provide players with a well-rounded hockey experience covering a broad range of skills training and skill-based games. Players will be taught how to properly stickhandle, pass, shoot, and play defense in a fun and positive environment. Athletes should wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle and a snack. Sticks and pucks are provided.

Firearm Safety Training Foley Community Education with the assistance of several DNR trained volunteer firearm safety instructors will provide firearm safety training this spring. The class will be a combination of classroom and field experience covering the safe operation and functioning of firearms as required by the MN Dept. of Natural Resources. Class Fee: $7.50 to Community Education at registration ($7.50 due to the DNR online) PARENT NOTES: -Students taking this course can be 11 years old but must turn 12 by December 31, 2026. If an 11 year old takes the class and passes the test the state DNR office will hold their card until they turn 12. -Please do not bring a gun to class or the field test. All firearms will be provided. -Attendance at all class sessions and good behavior is expected of all participants in order to pass the course. -There is a lot of reading homework for this class that you will need to assist your child with. Students must pass a State DNR written test in order to take the field test. Both tests must be passed in order to complete the course and receive certification. -The field test will only be given on Saturday, April 18th. Testing times and maps to the range will be distributed in class. -A parent or legal guardian MUST attend the first session on March 23rd to complete registration paperwork for their minor child. We are hoping that the registration will be completed no later than 7:00pm.

Soccer Tykes DASH Sports Soccer Tykes camps provide players with an introductory experience to the game of soccer. Key elements of dribbling, passing, and shooting will be taught and practiced. Fun, skill-based games will be played to practice newly learned skills. Athletes should bring a water bottle and wear athletic clothing & shoes (spikes and shin guards optional). Spring Into Fun (Grades K–6) Presented by the School District Child Nutrition Staff Description Spring is a season of growth, color, and fresh flavors. In this hands-on session, students will explore cooking and gardening through fun activities. Participants will stir up spring treats using wholesome ingredients, learn basic kitchen safety and nutrition concepts, and try their hand at planting a small container garden to take home. First Aid and Safety Trained Kids is a 4-hour course for ages 7-10. This course helps prepare children for staying safe at and away from home. Lessons cover basic first aid, water safety, vehicle safety, home emergencies, injury prevention, stranger and internet safety. Students will receive a book, handouts and a home first aid kit as part of the class.

STEM Exploding Paint Bomb Art: where chemistry meets color. Babysitting 101 This course is best suited for 10 to 13-year-olds interested in learning the current practices of caring for young children and how to manage their babysitting business. Students will learn safety and injury prevention, CPR, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants and how to handle behavior problems. Students receive a reference book, handouts, babysitting bag and first aid kit.
